Cause and Effect Tool: Logical Thinking

Understanding problems and organizing thoughts can seem unproductive and frustrating. The Cause and Effect diagram is designed to help you sort out your thoughts into a logical, useful system.

This tool is designed to help you find root cause of problems, but it has a multitude of other uses. You can use it to map chains of events, classify ideas, organize processes, or present a logical argument.

The web based cause and effect, or fishbone diagram, is pictured here, as it is used in our ipathmaker application. Invented by Kaoru Ishikawa, the cause and effect diagram is ideal for exploring possible root causes of problems.
